Joaquin's Car Crash Joaquin Phoenix walked the line between life and death Thursday, when he narrowly escaped injury in a serious car accident.

The Golden Globe winner was driving his car on a winding canyon road above Los Angeles's Sunset Strip, when he realized his brakes were not working, a police spokesman said. His car overturned and collided with another vehicle. Both drivers were uninjured.
