March 22, 2008 (Celebmagic.blogspot.com) - We spotted Mallika Sherawat on the set of Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam shooting for a song and dance sequence Friday noon, March 21, at Filmistan Studios in Mumbai.
The film is directed by Sanjay Chel and Mallika Sherawat plays a starlet in a theatre group that performs a modern day take on Mughal E Azam.
Mallika, who play Anarkali, learnt the dance moves for her role from veteran choreographer Saroj Khan.

You have to admit that the idea of Mallika stepping into Madhubala's shoes is intriguing at the very least!
The 26-year-old looked gorgeous in a pink and gold bejeweled dress with a revealing sweetheart neckline and a matching cap with white feather.

Mallika's co-star in the film, Rahul Bose, was dressed as Saleem in an orange angrakha and a cap. Also on set, looking comical, was Paresh Rawal in a blue angrakha and grey moustache.
Mallika's look in the film has been styled by designers Ashley Rebello and Anita Dongre.
Anu Malik is the composer for the film.
Talking about the song Pyaar kiya toh darna kiya, which has been sung to a completely different tune than the original, Anu Malik said, "Let me first make it very clear that no one can ever repeat or even remotely come close to the original song 'Pyaar kiya toh darna kya' from Mughal-E-Azam. For me, that song is one of the best songs in the history of our film industry. It was not only melodious but also extremely well written. And who can forget Madhubala in the song?"
Malik says Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam is a comedy and the song has been adapted to modern times and has "a lot of funny lines."
